Summer 2010 A.P. US History              Name: __________________________

Textbook Assignment

The textbook portion of the summer work is designed to give us a running start into the fall semester.  If we can review what the British found in North America, and who its rivals were for colonial supremacy, we’ll be in better shape for our course.  To that end, I’m having you start with the background material contained in chapters 1 and 2.  These chapters include Pre-Columbian (before Columbus) and very early colonial history.

The material covered in these chapters accounts for roughly 5% of the multiple choice questions on the AP exam, and may be the source for one or more of the essays on the test. This packet is due at the beginning of our first class, which is in the morning of the first day of school.  Please Note: Failure to turn this assignment in on time may result in your being dropped from the class list.
