Settlement
Chart Notes:
When completing the charts follow the
example given for Plymouth.
Please note that the Plymouth colony and Massachusetts Bay began as two separate settlements with
two very different governmental structures. Please be sure to note the
differences. From there, move through the different colonies as you read about
them in chapters 2 – 5, filling in the chart as you go. This chart is an
excellent study guide for the AP Exam, and will help begin to develop the
themes that will lead to division in the United States and lead directly to
the Civil War.
The charts are divided by region. You
will have to ensure that the various colonies end up on the correct chart in
order to help with the regional development themes that we will cover. The
first colony in British North America is Virginia.
The next one is Plymouth.
Follow on from there.
