We wish to advise you of the upcoming class events that will involve senior class members from May 22 – June1, 2008. This memo outlines both the senior student’s responsibilities and obligations during this busy time as well as the events that the Class of 2008 is inviting you as parents and other family members and friends to attend.

 

SENIOR EXAM SCHEDULE

 

Exams will be given during regular class time. Seniors must be in classes until final exams. All senior debts and/or obligations must be met by Thursday, May 22.

 

            WEDNESDAY, MAY 21 – Last day of regular classes for seniors.

 

            THURSDAY, MAY 22 – Exam periods 4, 7, and 6. (9:00 AM – 1: 02 PM)

 

            FRIDAY, MAY 23 – Memorial Day Assembly (8:00 AM – 8:45 AM)

Exam Period 5. (9:50 AM – 11:20 AM)

                                               

All books must be turned in, lockers cleaned, and all other outstanding obligations met. Gym locks are to be turned in to Ms. McVann and Mr. O’Flynn. If your padlock is missing, be prepared to pay $4.00 for its replacement. Obligations and the balance of class dues must be paid before you receive a cap & gown. Caps, gowns and commencement invitations will be distributed at the close of practice on Wednesday, May 28, 2008.

 

SENIOR PROM

 

The Senior Prom will be held at Castle Hill on Friday, May 23, 2008. The Promenade will begin at 6:00 PM. (Students need to arrive by 5:30 PM.)

Prom is 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM.

 

 

 

 

REHEARSAL SCHEDULES

 

ALL REHEARSALS ARE MANDATORY and will take place in the Performing Arts Center or gym. They will end when all work is accomplished and performance is satisfactory. If you wish to get out early – BE ON TIME! COOPERATE WHILE THERE!

Any absence from rehearsals must be verified and approved by Mr. Cahill; otherwise participation in a given ceremony will be denied. Remember ALL SENIORS ARE TO BE IN SCHOOL FROM 8:00 AM UNTIL DISMISSAL. Early release will be granted each day, provided all seniors cooperate and the practices are satisfactory.

 

TUESDAY, May 27

            Rehearsal for Baccalaureate – 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM – Performing Arts Center

            Chunky’s – leave after rehearsal and return by 2:30 PM

Reception  6:30 PM – HS Cafeteria (parents are invited)

Slide Show  7:30 PM – Performing Arts Center

Light refreshments will be served in the cafeteria followed by the Senior Slide Show and presentation of yearbooks to seniors in the Performing Arts Center.

(Senior speakers please see Mrs. Faust to arrange for 2 rehearsal times)

 

WEDNESDAY, MAY 28

            Rehearsal for Baccalaureate – 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM – Performing Arts Center

                Hypnotist - 11:30 – 12:45  - Performing Arts Center          

Senior BBQ – 12:45 PM – 1:30 PM - Ipswich High School        

BACCALAUREATE – CAP & GOWN CEREMONY – 7:00 PM

            Performing Arts Center of Ipswich High School

Seniors are to report to the cafeteria at 6:30 PM. Family members and friends are encouraged to join the senior class for this awards night.

 

THURSDAY, MAY 29

Rehearsal for Graduation – 8:00 AM – 10:30 AM

Six Flags – leave after rehearsal and return by 8:00 PM

 

FRIDAY, MAY 30

            Rehearsal for Graduation – 8:00 AM – 11:00 noon

            Beach Party at Cranes Beach - 12:00 noon – 3:00 PM

            Cape Ann Whale Watch Boat Cruise - 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM

           

                       

SUNDAY, JUNE 1

            GRADUATION – 2:00 PM – LOWER GYM

1:30 PM – Graduating seniors line up in the Roundy Gymnasium to check attendance, attire and to prepare for procession promptly at 2:00 PM.

 

 

 

DRESS AND DEMEANOR FOR BACCALAUREATE AND GRADUATION

 

Honor cords, tassels, stoles, medals and I.H.S. medallions awarded at the Baccalaureate as well as Honor Pins and Rings and sports medallions are to be worn at Graduation. Baccalaureate and Graduation are school-sponsored events; therefore, students who participate in these activities agree to abide by the criteria set below. No lettering, signs, or messages of any type are to be attached to caps or gowns. Students who display signs, lettering or messages of any type on their cap or gown will not be allowed to participate in the ceremony.

           

Students Will Not Be Allowed to Carry any Items in the Procession.

 

Dress Shoes             No sneakers, high tops, Birkenstocks, flip-flops or track shoes.

 

Young Women           Dresses, skirts or dress pants required.

 

Young Men                 Dress shirt and tie required. Dark trousers are preferable. No jacket is needed under gown

 

STUDENTS WHO DO NOT COMPLY WITH CRITERIA FOR DRESS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CEREMONY.

 

 

GRADUATION TICKETS: Each senior will receive 6 graduation tickets. Requests for extra tickets should be directed to Mrs. May on Tuesday, May 27.
