PRINCIPAL'S BIO
I had the childhood that stories are written about…free to roam, hill and dale…once my chores were finished! Raised on a dairy farm in upstate New York, I learned to milk cows, dodge flying hay bales and drive a tractor as soon as physically possible! The greatest gift I could ever have received from my family and rural community was the belief that there are no barriers. Anything is possible if you want to do it badly enough. With that attitude, I headed off to Hamilton College as a pre-med undergraduate student, only to find myself teaching in Boston as a means to pay for medical school applications. I like to say that I began teaching “by mistake.” And it is the best mistake I have ever made.
After teaching for a few years in Boston, I was fortunate enough to acquire a teaching position at the Winthrop School. Each year the most incredible students showed up at my door, so how could I possibly leave? This dynamic learning community made it possible for me to win a teaching award, achieve National Board Certification and pursue my Master’s in Technology in Education from Lesley University. Somehow, the years have flown by! It is with amazement and honor that I find myself in the front office of this unique and dedicated learning community.
