Principal's Bio

My educational career started in 1972 at Matignon High School in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Following graduation from Boston College in 1969, I took three years to travel while working as a substitute teacher. A group of five other guys joined me as we traveled throughout the United States and Europe. I'll never regret the experiences gained from those three years.

In 1981, I became the Assistant Principal at Matignon. My first assignment as a Principal brought me to Christopher Columbus High School in the North End of Boston. Three challenging but exciting years at Columbus gave me a great appreciation for the wonderful world of the North End.

I became Principal of Hopedale Junior-Senior High School in 1989. I had six wonderful years in that very small school prior to my arrival at Ipswich.

During the 2000 - 2001 school year, I had the great opportunity to be President of the Massachusetts Secondary Schools Principal's Association. This group of 1100 High School and middle school administrators provided a setting for substantial contact with the legislature as well as the Commissioner of Education.

My family time is devoted to my wife Cheryl and maintaining the unique Jewel Mill property. My two sons are a source of endless pride. Patrick is an attorney while Sean is an Air Traffic Controller. As a consummate jock, my athletic time is focused on golf (whenever possible) plus tennis, running and all other athletic options. Travel has become an enjoyable part of every year with recent trips to Alaska and Costa Rica.
