Becoming
a Substitute
in
the Ipswich Public Schools
The following three steps are
required in order to become a substitute in the Ipswich Public Schools:
1. An applicant must first complete the appropriate Employment Application. We ask that you fill out the Application in full, regardless if you choose to attach a resume.

four-year degree)
2. A Substitute Availability Sheet must be completed. This informs the substitute callers of the positions for which you wish to substitute.

3. A Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) Request Form must be completed in person in the Central Office, unless a current CORI is on file with the Ipswich Public Schools. You will be required to provide a government-issued photo identification card (i.e., a driver’s license or a passport) for this Request Form. A CORI is valid for three years.
Both the CORI and Application are then
given to the Superintendent and the Director of Administrative Services for
authorization and verification.
Once the completed Application and
accompanying documents are approved by the Superintendent and the Director of Administrative
Services, the prospective substitute is sent a letter stating s/he has been
added to the Ipswich Public Schools’ Substitute List.
After the substitute has worked for the first time, s/he will need to call Joy Jartman, Payroll Clerk, Central Office (978-356-2935 ext. 118) to process the necessary employment forms. Two forms of identification will be required at that time.
Removing
Yourself as a Substitute
in
the Ipswich Public Schools
Should a substitute no longer wish to be on the Substitute List, s/he should call the Central Office directly at 978-356-2935. A letter will then be sent to the substitute confirming the call and removal of his/her name from the Substitute List. If a substitute caller or any school personnel inform Central Office that a substitute is no longer available, a letter will be sent to the substitute confirming that the substitute will be removed from the Substitute List.
Remaining
a Substitute
in
the Ipswich Public Schools
Every June, a “Letter of Assurance” is sent to all substitutes assuring them of employment in the upcoming school year. Enclosed with the “Letter of Assurance” is a form that needs to be returned to the Superintendent’s Office in order for the substitute to be reactivated for the new school year. PLEASE NOTE: If this notification is not received, the substitute’s name is removed from the Substitute List.
